Youth

Youth Group:

Having Fun…Making Friends…Building Faith…Serving God by Serving Others.
Our hope and prayer is that all of our youth will find a place to be connected to one another, to God and to the congregation.

Our Middle and High School youth groups provide a safe environment that fosters a sense of welcome and belonging where our youth can journey together in deepening their understanding of God and putting their faith into action. Our schedule of events provides a balance of discussion nights, recreation, and service. Our “FUSE” group is for youth in grades 6-8 and “SALT” is for youth in grades 9-12, who meet on Sunday evenings.

Youth Camp – Silver Lake Conference Center

Our church encourages young people from fourth grade through high school to participate in the summer camp program at Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon, Connecticut. Many youth have had their spiritual lives shaped by these experiences. Some financial assistance for camp is available through the Board of Christian Education.

Service

Service to others is an essential element of our church’s mission. Youth are invited to volunteer in a variety of service projects throughout the year including a Halloween party for the children of the church, leaf raking, collecting money for turkey and a twenty, Christmas caroling, and the sleep-out for the homeless. On the 3rd Sunday of each month the SALT group meets at church to go to Center Church in Hartford to prepare, cook, and serve dinner to the homeless.

Appalachia Service Project (ASP)

Youth who have completed 9th grade are welcome to participate in the Appalachia Service Project, a week long home repair service project, which our Church supports, each summer. All youth are encouraged to fill out an application early in the fall.

The 2024 ASP Application is now available! Hurry up and sign up before we’re full!!
